The way I’m building websites is changing fast, and in this video I explain why I think the best approach sits in the middle ground between “AI does everything” and the traditional WordPress/static-site workflow.

I walk through a site I built primarily inside AI (using Codex and ChatGPT’s Sites function), then show why I prefer moving that output into a visual developer tool like Instatic to make edits quickly without burning through tokens. Because the build uses CSS variables for a consistent style guide (colours, spacing, fluid typography), I get a single source of truth and can choose to work either manually or with AI inside the tool.
I also cover alternative hybrid workflows, including using AI directly inside a visual environment (or even locally with tools like SiteReal), plus CMS and flat-file options. I touch on where I think the industry is heading—more tools connecting directly to AI agents—and why exporting to static HTML can make sense for performance, simplicity, and reduced maintenance.
