This video covers the basic fundamentals of editing a Squarespace website in 2024, using the new 7.1 fluid engine. Starting with an overview of the Squarespace dashboard, I explain how to to access and manage different areas of your website. Next I go over section settings including how to add a section, move a section, save a section, and how to add a background to a section. I also explain a bit about color themes, but I go into more detail on that in my previous video (here). Next up I talk about block settings, including:
– how to pin a block
– how to add a background to a text block
– how to show the grid during edit mode
– how to change the color of text
– how to change the font size
I also discuss how I use the three different button types in Squarespace (primary, secondary, and tertiary), the differences between fit and fill for buttons, as well as how to adjust the size of buttons. And then at the end I go into how to update your site header and footer, how to add a button to your header, and how to choose a premade footer template.
This video is basically a Squarespace masterclass aimed at beginners just getting started in creating a Squarespace website. But I’ve also included new features recently added for 2024, including pinning blocks and saving sections to use on different pages throughout your website (for example if you want to reuse the same newsletter block throughout your website) so even if you’re familiar with Squarespace you might learn some new tips and tricks.
