In just a few minutes I’m going to show you how to rank your Shopify Store on the first page of Google search really fast. Get your Shopify Store on #1 page Google!

Here is the basic Shopify Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) guide
STEP 1. Do the Shopify basics
Shopify is a great ecommerce platform
Shopify does provides some good tools to help with SEO but they wont get you ranking on first page of Google
Basically the steps you need to follow to get ranked on first page of google with a Shopify store are:
– Update all page titles 55 – 70 characters
– Update all page descriptions 130 ~ 150 characters
– Decide what keywords or phrases we are going to target to rank for
– Update content across your Shopify store with keyword and related words / phrases
– Draft and Publish a blog related to your Shopify Store using keywords and phrases
– Optimize both Shopify product page content and blog using Surfer SEO to rank first page google
Most Shopify stores have thin content that google is not sure what to do with. So we fix this by focusing on a specific keyword or phase for selected pages of our website. This tells google what the site is about and when it should list the page(s) in the SERP.
STEP 2. Get the Apps
If you want to follow along you need these two apps. These apps are going to help us find the right key words and / or phase to target and also guide us on drafting highly optimized content.

STEP 3. Semrush find keywords / phrases
We need to do some keyword research to find keywords and phrases closely related to our topic that have low competition.
To do this we head over to Semrush, if you don’t know what Semrush is it is basically one of the best SEO tools available, I’m not going to go into all the features of Semrush today but instead just show you how to find a good keyword / phrase to select.
If you do not have a Semrush account there is a link in the description. There is a free version and its got enough functionality to get started, but at some point you might want to consider the full version as it does offer some cool features.
In todays video I’m going to show you how I optimized the website www.photolight.com.au
STEP 4. Surfer Content Editor And Tools
Now that we have our search term/keyword and used Semrush to give us low competition keywords that we should be able to rank for we know need to produce highly optimized content.
To do this we use another app called Surfer SEO.
So once we are signed up and logged into SurferSEO head to content editor, add your keyword, in this case ‘Photography Light Box’
As you follow Surfers guidance the content score will increase.
Then go back to surfer to run the audit and recheck content score.
The audit page will give you lots of feedback that you can use to further optimize you content and improve your ranking.
Review the result of the audit and do the final optimizations required to listed high as possible on the first page of search results for your keyword.
You need to make sure your new webpage is sent to Google for indexing. There are lots of videos on this and I’m not going to cover this in detail here. However you basically need a Google console account, and you need to force Google to index this new page and content.
STEP 5.
A few days later…..
Final test – lets google our target keyword / phrase ‘Photography Light Box’ and see where we land, and as you will see we land on first page of google (and bing)!
