For those out of the loop, Squarespace is a tool I recommend when someone asks me for a great eCommerce or portfolio website builder. Don’t get me wrong, you can use it to build any website you want.
But for me, the 2 standout aspects are stylish designs and easy-to-use business features. With unlimited storage space and attention to style, It’s also amazing for any photographer/artist blog or personal website. It’s definitely not the cheapest platform, and I wouldn’t even call it a truly extensive website builder, but the quality is all there, quality over quantity, am I right?
So… ultimately, it’s great that this platform is constantly improving, and instead of just posting a quick blog post that immediately gets lost in time, Squarespace does a whole song-and-dance event about it called… Refresh…
I know, truly an original name. But I digress, this year they brought over 100 improvements, big and small. Of course, I won’t go into everything, but let’s look at what I thought were the most interesting parts.

📢 Fluid Engine – Squarespace Refresh 2022
Wow, would you look at that? It’s the FLUID engine, the oh-so-amazing system that Squarespace borrowed from Zyro, ehem, basically point for point. I’ve mentioned in my Zyro Website Builder review that this type of grid system is perfect for beginners – it allows you to see where the element will be placed and gives quite the freedom to experiment, but doesn’t make the user move everything pixel by pixel. I’ve never been tired of working with it on Zyro, so the same can be said here. Though… I have to admit, Squarespace solved one annoying problem I had with Zyro, the Fluid Editor makes it easy to move elements to front or back. Allowing me to make some more interesting design choices. And this might just become my favorite version of the grid…
📢 Unfold – Squarespace Refresh 2022
Another aspect I noticed in Squarespace’s approach is the attention to creating and publishing media. With most plans, you get a selection of marketing tools that allow you to quickly create many things, let’s say, email campaigns. Don’t get me wrong, these tools aren’t magical, and you can find third-party alternatives for them, it’s still useful when everything is in one place. And this year’s Refresh pushes that even more. You can use the Unfold app not only to create Instagram stories but also to edit and share viral videos online. If you don’t have experience creating successful social media posts, don’t worry, Squarespace automates many aspects and offers you templates for everything. So all you need to do is to choose and add your own media. Even my mom could make these…

So, is this Refresh update truly such a big deal? Not really. If you don’t like Squarespace, you probably won’t change your mind after this year’s Refresh. However, there are a lot of live-improving changes, and the platform itself feels a bit more “alive.” But if you’ve thought about trying this provider, there’s no better time than now…
Ultimately, I recommend Squarespace for anyone that wants to build an eCommerce website or cares about great web designs…
