Today I decided let’s design an apple landing page. I’m also a fan of lofi music, so what if I created a video that mixed web design and lofi music, would anyone watch it? It seems like neubrutalism is starting to take over the web, another hot web design trend. While creating a speed webpage build video like this is fun and all, I also wanted to talk a bit about that. I’m not going to be redesigning Apple’s website, but I will take the Apple WWDC landing page and redesigning it with a more neubrutalism style.
One of my first videos on the channel was looking at different web design trends. But one thing I didn’t talk about in that video was neubrutalism. This design trend is like brutalism in a sense. But what is brutalism? Brutalism in web design is a crude, plain, and transparent style that prioritizes functionality over form and effectivity over aesthetics. Neubrutalism or neobrutalism (or new brutalism) is a mix of regular brutalism in web design and more modern typography, illustration, and animation standards.
