Web designers and digital agencies, I’m going to show you how to craft an impactful, future-proof SEO strategy for your clients in 2 minutes.
Real quick, I’m Lindsay Halsey, co-founder of Pathfinder SEO. We help web designers & agencies offer SEO services following a guided approach to SEO. In an industry that’s ever evolving and noisy, we bring clarity, structure, and support — so you and your clients can get found on Google ease.
Here’s how we do it.
We start with audience. Your SEO strategy needs to be grounded in connecting with your prospective customers. In this example, let’s use a web design agency that serves interior designers. Our target audience includes interior designers and decorators across the country.
With the target audience in hand, we’re ready to align our SEO strategy with our customer acquisition funnel.
The funnel is simple. We’re trying to connect with our audience in three phases. At the top, we’re building awareness. Then we move into consideration and conversion.
Your blog is likely to align with the awareness phase.
Then, pages including service and portfolio pages will align with consideration.
An finally the homepage will align with conversion.
Let’s look at this through the lens of keywords.
At the top of our funnel, we have phrases like “interior design website examples” or “seo strategy for interior designers. These keywords help us get in front of the right audience and provide helpful education on our blog that shares our expertise.
Then we have phrases that align with our services in the consideration phase, including keywords such as “web designer for interior decorators” or “SEO agency for interior designers”. These queries map to people with a purchase intent.
At the bottom of the funnel, we have the brand. This may also include your name.
And that’s it. In just 2 minutes, we’ve crafted an SEO strategy that’s grounded in the real world and aligns with how a digital agency acquires customers. You can apply this framework to your own website’s SEO and that of your clients.
