Before making any major changes, always backup your site first.
If you found a theme you want to switch to, then install it and preview it first.
There may be differences in both the widgets as well as the navigation menu.
Each theme has itβs own customization options. settings like logo, header, background and such so when you activate a new theme youβll want to work with the new settings to get your site to look how you want it.
Things like theme specific sliders, shortcodes and theme specific post types and taxonomies will disappear, but you can find plugins to add these items back if needed.
Your posts, pages, and media will all be untouched but some themes may display featured images differently which may require you to regenerate the images.
