Hey guys, and welcome to my review and walkthrough today of a website built by Wix, I’ll be using an example of a personal website for an author. So you can see a real world example of how you might be able to use Wix for your own situation. Now, the nice thing about using Wix is that it’s so user friendly, everything is drag and drop, so there’s no coding necessary. It has a lot of very specific templates you can start with and then customize to your heart’s content. And what’s cool is that you can create an account and play around with as many different versions of your website as you’d like at absolutely no cost.
Now, while you can use Wix for free, this will allow them to put advertisements on your site, but you can upgrade for just a few dollars per month, which does include the cost of hosting your website, and then you can have your own domain and your site will then be free from any of their ads. So if you’d like to sign up for Wix, include a link in the description where you can get started for free, and if there are any promotions or discounts available. I’ll include the And the link as well, so you can take advantage of those.
Now what’s cool about Wix is that if you have your own business or brand, they make it really easy for you to make it clear who you are, what you’re about and the different things you offer. For example, as I hover over here, you can see that some of the things take me to different pages on the website or two different links. Wix also makes it very easy to have your own newsletter signup. I know it’s something a lot of people would like to have, but sometimes it can just be difficult to get set up and working properly. But having this can be really important as it can help you stay connected with your audience.
For example, if you sign up for her newsletter, you’ll see that you’re getting her writing tips, free resources, and or book updates. So again, it’s just another part of Wix that makes it so easy and helpful to use. And then if you have a YouTube channel or a Facebook group, Wix helps your visitors get connected to your different social media communities as well. Now another cool feature about Wix is that you can create these landing pages as a way to provide free downloads or free resources in exchange for people signing up for your newsletter. I know someone who got over 200 subscribers this way well, they were just starting out with a brand new Wix website. And then here at the bottom, you can see another newsletter signup, which will show up on every single page if you like.
Now, I also want to show you real quick how Wix makes it very easy to make a mobile friendly version of your site. Just as you create your desktop site, Wix will automatically add everything you put on your desktop site to your mobile site. And then you can still adjust it further to make it even nicer if you’d like. So here you can see the homepage and how it looks very similar, but it’s just a lot more readable for mobile devices. You can see the menu which looks really nice and is very user friendly. And then I love this feature you can add here as well, which is just a button that takes people directly to be able to contact you or your other socials.
So again, Wix takes care of all this And it just looks great. Now, Wix also allows you to create a blog on this site. It’s located under the about section. But what I love about Wix is they make it easy to shift or change any of these things around should you want to in the future. So if you know you’ll want to have a blog section, which has many different templates that you can choose from, and it makes it super easy to create and manage your blog posts. Now, I want to show you this cool example of a writing Help page. Here you can see all the things offered that could help writers.
