Web design with no code has been around for a bit now, but it’s growing rapidly in popularity. This prompts the question, is drag and drop better than coding? Is no code replacing the traditional web developer? With the many web development tools, and web design tools out there for coding and no-coding, there are more options than ever when it comes to designing your own website, or even app. One might say no code is the future, but really, all these no code tools are made with code. So, to answer one of the above questions, the web developer is probably never going to get replaced simply because they are the ones who build these tools.

There still is much debate around no code vs. full code though when it comes to starting a business and the roles around web development. On the front end, using a builder vs. coding for websites doesn’t show much of a difference. Your user will see the website in pretty much the exact form. While coding a website opens the door to far more customization, if you make a website without code using drag and drop page builders, the point of entry and time investment is much lower. You can spend months putting a website together with code, but the same can be done in weeks or even days when using a no code alternative tool. There are clear advantages of drag and drop builders, but so are there for coding workflows.

Consider what the project needs, and what the future will entail for a specific website you’re working on. Chances are that the needs of the client and their website, their budget, and their team’s need to interact with the content on the site will determine your choice between coding vs. drag and drop.
