Google has been pushing SEOs and website owners to adopt mobile-first design for at least half a decade, from their mobile-friendly tag and ‘Mobilegeddon’ back in 2015, to their more recent move to mobile-first indexing.
After experimenting with mobile-first indexing over the last few years, Google has settled on March 2021 as the time when they will use mobile-first indexing for ALL sites (this was originally September 2020, but they pushed it back in July).
