I don’t ever say that Squarespace is “the best” for SEO. There are some elements of WordPress that are better. I’ve also seen some slow and clunky WordPress sites (as I also build custom WordPress themes).
The real question is which platform are you going to enjoy working with more and therefore update more with fresh/SEO-friendly content? Some SEO features aren’t obvious in Squarespace, but they are there for you if you know where to look. If you are able to make changes to your website yourself, you don’t have to worry about updating tons of glitchy plugins and people hacking your website, and you optimize your Squarespace site the right way, it can rank very well in search! Even better than some WordPress sites. It’s all relative.
